Acceptance Speech - Paola Verdenelli
Head of Production, Rainbow S.r.l.
The Animation Award
Dear distinguished honorees and friends,
I am really proud to have been honored with TheWIFTS prestigious Animation Award 2016 from
The Women's International Film & Television Showcase.
My only regret is not have been able to be present with you all and share this joyful moment. It would have been an enormous honor and pleasure to meet with you all in person
during this Luncheon .
To receive this award for me is an enormous recognition of my dedicated work in the field of animation for many years. On a personal level it is an added incentive to continue to be myself as an individual and an experienced professional in the animation field.
Working in animation is a daily challenge, one that I have loved since the first day I stepped into the dynamic world of Rainbow company with little knowledge of the logistics of animation, merchandising, and all the steps involved in the process to the screen. Over the years my experience and responsibility has been the overseeing from concept to delivery - the production of 17 Cartoon TV series, and more than 500 animated episodes, with Winx Club being the most popular among them.
I am devoted to this job, that has brought me great satisfaction, and the ultimate joy, is to see the kids smile!

Paola Verdenelli, Head of Production at animation studio Rainbow srl, is the recipient of TheWIFTS Animation Award 2016. Since the studio's formation in 1995 Paola oversees every aspect of the product process for all the highly successful projects that emerge from Rainbow Studio. A team player, she praises the staff she works with for their dedication and high quality of work that is generated from conception though to licensing.
Paola Verdenelli graduated from university specialsing in Foreign Languages which led to short work experience in a number of fields. She joined Rainbow when it was in its infancy, and although her experience in the animation industry was very limited, Paola immediately realized that working in the entertainment business was what she wanted to do.
At the time of her joining, Rainbow had few key people (some of whom are still with the company) and 15 years on, to her personal delight and work satisfaction the company has grown exponentially. Paola's role at Rainbow as head of production entails her personal involvement in the entire chain of animation from concept through to production. Over the years this has seen the realization of 17 animated TV series, of which Winx Club is the most well known internationally among all.
Verdenelli says: "Finding my great passion has led me over the years to grow and learn very quickly the challenging world of animation. It has been and still is a great daily experience that besides the pressure of the production process and its inbuilt difficulties, gives me enormous personal satisfaction. That satisfaction manifests itself especially when I watch the final finished episodes, having followed the creation of one of the series from concept through all the many required production steps through to post-production and the deliverables. Working in animation is a dynamic job an everyday challenge, that has allowed me to grow as a professional in my work, and on a personal level. Although the market has become more demanding compared to 15 years ago, it still continues to offer an incentive and deep commitment to face the daily encounters of working in and producing animation."
Headquartered in Loreto, an idyllic Italian seaside town, Rainbow's building is a modern architectural wonder built to be the ideal environment for creative development, and reflects Rainbow's company philosophy of 'Work and Play Hard'. Paola started at Rainbow Animation when it was small animation company with the dream of its founder Iginio Straffi, who at 30 years of age, found himself with a strong desire to develop creatively and professionally, and with that drive he returned to his home country of Italy and founded Rainbow. In a little over ten years, Rainbow grew from its humble beginnings into a world leader in kids' animation. This was due in no small part both to the artistic skills of its staff and the business skills of its management. Founded in 1995, today, along with its subsidiaries, the company has become a world-leader in the kids' entertainment industry, dedicated to TV and feature film productions, along with managing business activities from concept to production to global distribution. Rainbow's successful distribution of its content in the media (TV, Theatrical, Internet), as well as in the consumer products industry, has led to the company being ranked 13th on the yearly Global Licensor List worldwide, and 1st in Europe. The Company has subsidiaries in USA, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Moscow, Hong Kong and Singapore. http://www.rbw.it/en/
