TheWIFTS Gears Up - 2014 Annual Event Celebrates Three New Awards
TheWIFTS Foundation Award - Inaugurated 2014
In 2014, The Board of the TheWIFTS Foundation inaugurated TheWIFTS Foundation Award, in recognition of the successful women who have shown their generosity through contribution of fiscal resources as well as generosity of spirit, by embracing TheWIFTS mandate.
The first recipient is Sylvie Nissen. Her company has sponsored The Sylvie Nissen Costume Design Award. In addition to the Porcelain Award from TheWIFTS, the recipient of The Sylvie Nissen Costume Design Award receives a Bracelet from her Collection. This year's (2014) bracelet is a Solid Silver Bangle made from Chocolate Stingray (Galuchat) adorned with precious stones: Peridot, Amethyst, Blue Topaz, Pink Tourmaline, and White Topaz.
The Sylvie Nissen Costume Design Award
TheWIFTS Costume Design Award from 2014 is sponsored by Sylvie Nissen.
In the art world, Sylvie Nissen was in a class of her own. In the 1990s she put into action one of her secret ambitions: to exhibit and promote artists with unclassifiable talent who were 'singular' by a certain lifestyle and elegance. In following this passion she has achieved the rare feat of running a successful business - on an international scale - for more than twenty years.
Sylvie Nissen and her business partner Yann de Saint Sulpice, through their contacts in the art world, were instrumental in helping TheWIFTS find an artist to put TheWIFTS concept into the creation of the first award in porcelain in the world. In early 2014, Elspeth Tavares, Founder of TheWIFTS, whilst in conversation with Sylvie and Yann, discovered that they expressed admiration of the recipients of TheWIFTS over the years and of TheWIFTS in keeping to its core values and ethos. The Sylvie Nissen Costume Design Award is generously sponsored by the partners and includes a bracelet from Sylvie's Collection. Sadly, Sylvie Nissen passed away unexpectedly in September 2014.
The Otilia Award
The Otilia Award is TheWIFTS Animal Advocacy Award. Inaugurated in 2013, the Award is funded by an anonymous Benefactor. The name of the Award has a beautiful origin. A tree planted in memory of a beloved family member, which had not bloomed for three years, blossomed with flowers on the day TheWIFTS Honoree received her award in 2013. The Otilia Award is presented to a woman who has championed the care, rights, security, and well- being of our four legged friends and companions.
